Below is a Preparedness Spreadsheet (prepared by Jennifer Jack) that lists menu items for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for a 3-Month Food Supply.  At the end it gives you a shopping list for all the ingredients for those specific meals.  It is only in Excel format so that you can adjust the list to fit the meals your own family enjoys.

The Preparedness Spreadsheet also has a Long-Term Food Storage chart which is a great way to keep track of what you have on hand, what you need to purchase, how long each food will last, etc.

1st
priority - to obtain a 3-month supply of normal, every day food.  You can easily obtain this 3-month supply, by purchasing a few extra items each week while they are on sale.  This web site is meant to simplify this for you.

It is also a good idea to make a list of 10 meals your family likes.  Then multiply the ingredients for those meals by 9 and you will know how much you need for 3 months.  Buy those ingredients as they come on sale.  Do the same for 10 breakfasts and 10 lunches.

2nd priority - to store drinking water in small container such as bottled water.  This web site will also keep you posted on bottled water sales.

3rd priority - to save a little money each week to establish a financial reserve.  Try saving $20 each week.  This should be easy with all the money you are saving by shopping the weekly sales

4th priority - to store long-term food items.  Just follow the suggestions on the Long-Term Storage page and you will have your storage in no time.

The Church now has a “Family Home Storage Starter Kit” for purchase through the Distribution Center.  The kits cost $34.25 and they are delivered to your home.  The kit includes wheat, rice, beans, oats and teaching aids.  Check it out at
